Dr Robert Pierre and The South Pasadena Kiwanis Club have honored Suzie
Yamanaka, wife of the late Dr Ken Yamanaka, with a personal drawing from Dr
Pierre during today’s regular Wednesday luncheon meeting, at Calvary
Presbyterian Church. Dr Pierre has taken up drawing as a hobby in his
retirement. Dr ken Yamanaka was a long time active member of the South
Pasadena Kiwanis Club.
Thank you Dr and Mrs Ken Yamanaka for your long history of South Pasadena
Today at our Kiwanis meeting, we had from the South Pasadena/San Marino YMCA, 4 weeks new at this job and many years with the ”Y”, Executive Director, Rick Politte as Speaker and Director of Development, Susie Berry.
Rick shared the history of the “Y” and explained all of the Community Services they provide. Did you know that “Basketball” started because of the “Y”? There were other things too!
As part of our Community Service to YOUTH, today we granted $500.00 to the YMCA. We look forward to working with the “Y” to serve our Community.
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s scholarships, awarded by the South Pasadena Kiwanis Club:
Megan Mellon – Kenneth Yamanaka Memorial Scholarship
Sara Iman Hanif – Kenneth Yamanaka Memorial Scholarship
Mariela Carrillo – S. Paul Ward Key Club Scholarship
Tickets are $30, and include light appetizers, drink, and the show. Social begins at 1pm, and the show begins at 2pm.
